The third book in my fantasy trilogy, The Noble Warriors, titled NOMAN, is now available in hardback. The first two books, SEEKER and JANGO, have been re-issued in paperback with new covers to match NOMAN. If you've been collecting the hardbacks and now have a non-matching set, you can get a free dust cover for NOMAN with artwork to match the old SEEKER and JANGO. Email info@euk.egmont.com, put 'FAO Mike Richards' in the Subject line, and give your name and address.
My first trilogy, The Wind on Fire, is now available (in the UK) in new editions with new covers.

Could you give me a full sumarry of the book The wind on fire 3 (Firesong) because I need help, I don't really understand the story.
Thank You
William Nicholson:
Sorry, I can't. The only full summary is the book itself. If it doesn't make sense to you, I can only suggest you put it aside and try again in a year or so (if you can be bothered - and why should you?) It really does all make sense, but it is quite complex.

Hello! My question is about Firesong - while Jumper, Albard, Kestrel and Bowman are traveling to Sirene, Albard makes a comment about how futile the cycle of the Singers and the Morah is, and Jumper replies, 'but then there's the boy.' They're talking as though Bowman could destroy the Morah for good, or that's how it seems to me. I had thought that the Morah (well, the mor at least) was an essential life force. Did I missunder stand what they were saying, or is there more to that?
William Nicholson:
I don't think you've misunderstood - the mor is a life force and can't be destroyed, because it's in us all. Bowman is not going to destroy the Morah for good, nor is Kestrel. The wind on fire moment is part of a recurring cycle.

In a story I am writing, there is a village. It's an English village, because the children in the village believe in Robin Hood. It is an ordinary village with a church and a park and a school...but I can't think of a good name for it. Can you think of one, and if not, how is the best way to decide a name?
William Nicholson:
Get a map of the part of England that fits your story and check out the place names there. Then build your own fictional name from parts of real names. So if you see Sherwood and Nottingham, you could make up the name Sheringham (actually that's a real place somewhere else) or Nottingwood. Not brilliant examples, but you get the idea.

Are you plaaning on writing any more fantasy novels?
I have read The Wind on Fire Trilogy and into reading Noman. I think they are all brilliant.
So if you were writing any more novels could you give me an insight to its name or if its going to be a trilogy etc.
William Nicholson:
My latest book for teen readers is actually not a fantasy story, it's a love story set in the present time. It's called RICH AND MAD, the names of the two main characters, and I'm about 90 pages into it. I know it sounds like a very different sort of book to my others, but if you think about it, I have quite a lot of emotion in my fantasy books. So this time the love affair takes centre stage. It's going to be funny and moving and wonderful and true, I promise.

I'm very young but wish to become an author, if not now then when I grow up. What way is the best way to get started?
William Nicholson:
It's very simple - you start writing now. The more you write, the better you get. And as you write, you read good books, and that makes your own writing better. Don't worry about getting published, concentrate on getting good. It takes a little time. But meanwhile you may be able to get your work printed locally, in a school magazine, in the local newspaper, or just from your own computer. If you get the writing habit young it will give you pleasure for the rest of your life, and may become your vocation.
